talks Law and Order

Length: 15 min, 30 s // Recorded: 1981

Law and Order is the first solo album by Fleetwood Mac guitarist, vocalist, songwriter Lindsey Buckingham and was released in 1981. Trouble, featuring drumming by Fleetwood Mac founder Mick Fleetwood, reached number 9 on the U.S. charts and the album reached 32 on the Billboard 200.

Lindsey recorded and released the album during a break from group recordings and touring. The band had previously embarked on a huge 18-month tour to support and promote Tusk. They travelled extensively across the world, including the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. It was on this world tour that the band recorded music for the Fleetwood Mac Live album, which was released at the end of 1980.

Following this Lindsey and some of the other members of the band, notably Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood worked on their own solo projects.

In this conversation Lindsey talks about his reasons for producing a solo album and the differences in the songs compared to group compositions.
